This project was made for my Intro to Visual Arts Class! My artwork is a make up of lines and different shapes that kind of looks like a factory. There are circles with lines connecting them, and different things happening in each circle. The title is “fireball,” named after 4 small circles on my artwork that are filled with flames. The most obvious principle in my artwork is coloring with colored pencils, and creating different values and colors, depending on how hard you press. I created my artwork using pencils to trace, and then colored pencils to color the whole thing in. It was a long process to make sure that there were no white spaces and that every spot looked the same shade of pink, purple, or orange. The circle stencil inspired my art, as I used around 4 of those to start my project, and then continued to add circles and design them. I wanted it to look like gears almost, and just crisp lines with a lot going on still. I definitely think this helped me reach my goal, because I love how the colors turned out and together and how we chose to overlap certain things but not others. While creating this, I learned that it can be confusing/hard to line things up and make it symmetrical. The final piece is what I imagined and what I wanted! Doing this project will help me perfect my future projects and have really clean coloring. I really enjoyed this project because I was able to color a ton and use a ton of different shading methods that I hadn’t really done thoroughly before.
